- Professional Training All HCMA Chaplains complete a rigorous Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program, consisting of 1,600 hours of training accredited by WASC, COMISS, and ICPT. This includes real-world experience in hospitals, care facilities, and other healthcare environments.
- Certification HCMA chaplains are certified through our Board of Chaplain Certification, ensuring they meet the highest standards of professional spiritual care. Certification demonstrates your expertise in serving patients, families, and staff with integrity and respect.
- Commitment to Excellence As a chaplain, you’ll provide spiritual care that improves patient well-being, enhances family satisfaction, and supports healthcare staff during challenging times.
Steps to Become an HCMA Chaplain
- Contact us for a free preliminary screening
- Application Submit your application along with a $250 fee. Our admissions team will review your qualifications and calling for chaplaincy.
- Training and Education Complete four units of CPE training (1,600 hours):
- Unit #1: $900 (400 hours)
- Unit #2: $600 (400 hours)
- Unit #3: $400 (400 hours)
- Unit #4: $300 (400 hours)
- Certification and Board Approval After completing your training, you’ll submit to HCMA’s board for certification. Certification renewal occurs every five years with a $350 fee.
